We suggest that you underline all the figures for the size you require before knitting.
22 sts and 30 rows to 4 in or 10cm measured over stst on size 4mm needles or the size of needles to give correct tension.
It is
important to check your tension before starting the garment, therefore knit a
tension square.
If there are
less sts or rows to 4 in or 10 cm than stated, change to thinner needles.
If there are
more sts or rows to 4 in or 10 cm than stated, change to thicker needles.

Sl these sts onto a st holder.
LEFT FRONT
Using 4 mm needles cast on 47[49 : 52 : 55] sts and work 34 rows in stst finishing on a P row.
Place Pocket
Next Row: K15[17 : 17 : 20], sl the next 23[23 : 26 : 26] sts onto a st holder, K across 23[23 : 26 : 26] sts from one pocket lining and Kto end. = 47[49 : 52 : 55] sts.
Cont in stst until work measures 12[12 : 12.5 : 13] in or 30.5[30.5 : 31.5 : 33] cm finishing on a P row.
Mark end of last row to indicate start of armhole.
Shape Armhole
Next Row: K1, sl1, K1, psso, K to end.
Next Row: P to last 3 sts, P2togtbl, P1.
Rep the last 2 rows 3 times more. = 39[41 : 44 : 47] sts.
Work a further 29[29 : 29 : 33] rows straight finishing on a K row.

Shape Neck
Next Row: Cast off 5[5 : 6 : 6] sts, work to end.
Next Row: Work to last 2 sts, dec 1 st.
Next Row: Cast off 2 sts, work to end.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on every row until 25[26 : 28 : 31] sts rem.
Cont straight until armhole measures 8.5[8.5 : 9 : 9.5] in or 21.5[21.5 : 23 : 24] cm finishing on a P row.
Shape Shoulder
Cast off rem 25[26 : 28 : 31] sts.
RIGHT FRONT
Using 4 mm needles cast on 47[49 : 52 : 55] sts and work 34 rows in stst finishing on a P row.
Place Pocket
Next Row: K9, sl the next 23[23 : 26 : 26] sts onto a st holder, K across 23[23 : 26 : 26] sts from second pocket lining and K to end. = 47[49 : 52 : 55] sts.
Cont in stst until work measures same as Left Front to armhole finishing on a P row.
Mark beg of last row to indicate start of armhole.
Shape Armhole
Next Row: K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
Next Row: P1, P2tog, P to end.
Rep the last 2 rows 3 times more. = 39[41 : 44 : 47] sts.
Work a further 30[30 : 30 : 34] rows straight finishing on a P row.
Complete Right Front to correspond with Left Front from **.
BACK
Using 4 mm needles cast on 97[101 : 107 : 113] sts and work in stst until Back measures same as Left Front to armhole finishing on a P row.
Mark each end of last row to indicate start of armholes.
Shape Armholes
Next Row: K1, sl1, K1, psso, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
Next Row: P1, P2tog, P to last 3 sts, P2togtbl, P1.
Rep the last 2 rows 3 times more. = 81[85 : 91 : 97] sts.
Work straight until armholes measure same as Left Front to shoulder finishing on a P row.
Shape Shoulders
Cast off.
Mark center 31[33 : 35 : 35] sts to indicate back neck.
SLEEVES (Both Alike)
Using 4 mm needles cast on 75[75 : 77 : 85] sts.
Work in stst inc 1 st at each end of the needle on the 3rd and every foll 4th row until 99[99 : 103 : 109] sts are on needle.
Cont in stst without further inc until Sleeve measures 7[7.5 : 8 : 8.5] in or 17.5[19 : 20.5 : 21.5] cm finishing on a P row.
Shape Top
Next Row: K1, sl1, K1, psso, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
Next Row: P1, P2tog, P to last 3 sts, P2togtbl, P1.
Rep the last 2 rows 3 times more. = 83[83 : 87 : 93] sts.
Cast off.
LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT LOWER EDGINGS
Using 4 mm needles and with right side facing, pick up and knit 47[50 : 53 : 56] sts evenly along cast on edge.
Knit 1 row.
Picot and Cast Off Row: Cast off 2 sts, *sl rem st on right hand needle back onto left hand needle, cast on 2 sts, cast off 4 sts, rep from * to end.
Fasten off rem st.
BACK LOWER EDGING
Using 4 mm needles and with right side facing, pick up and K98[101 : 107 : 113] sts evenly along cast on edge.
Knit 1 row.
Work picot and cast off row as given for lower edges of fronts.
SLEEVE LOWER EDGINGS
(Both Alike)
Using 4 mm needles and with right side facing, pick up and K74[74 : 77 : 83]sts evenly along cast on edge.
Knit 1 row.
Work picot and cast off row as given for lower edges of cardigan fronts.
POCKET TOPS (Both Alike)
Using 4 mm needles and with right side facing K across 23[23 : 26 : 26] sts from st holder.
Knit 1 row.
Work picot and cast off row as given for lower edges of cardigan fronts.
TO MAKE UP
See ball band for pressing and washing instructions.
With a backstitch join shoulder seams.
NECKBAND
Using 4 mm needles and with right side facing, pick up and K26[26 : 28 : 28] sts evenly up right front neck edge, 31[33 : 35 : 35] sts from cast off sts at back neck and 26[27 : 29 : 29] sts evenly down left front neck edge. = 83[86 : 92 : 92] sts.
Knit 1 row.
Work picot and cast off row as given for lower edges of fronts.
LEFT FRONT BAND
Using 4 mm needles and with right side facing, pick up and K89[89 : 92 : 95] sts evenly down front edge.
Knit 3 rows.
Work picot and cast off row as given for lower edge.
RIGHT FRONT BAND
Using 4 mm needles and with right side facing, pick up and K89[89 : 92 : 95] sts evenly up front edge.
Knit 1 row.
Next Row (Buttonhole row):
K2[2 : 3 : 2], yfwd, k2tog, *K12[12 : 12 : 13], yfwd, K2tog, rep from * to last 1[1 : 3 : 1] sts, K to end.
Knit 1 row.
Work picot and cast off row as given for lower edge.
Place center of cast off edge of sleeves to shoulder seams then with a backstitch sew Sleeves evenly to Back and Fronts.
With a backstitch join side and sleeve seams.
Sew pocket linings and pocket tops in position.
Sew on buttons.
TO SET KNITTING
Pin out to size and shape, cover with a damp cloth and allow to dry.
